Jean-Paul Boëtius leaves Mainz 05

Speaking after Mainz 05’s 2-2 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt in the final Bundesliga games of the season, head coach Bo Svensson confirmed the departure of Jean-Paul Boëtius.

“We were interested in him staying,” said Svensson. “He was a very important player who threw everything in but he’s a grown man making a decision that’s best for him.”

They were unable to reach an agreement for a new contract, which expires at the end of the season. It’s unsure as to where the Dutchman’s future is.

Boëtius has played 129 games in all competitions for Mainz, scoring 13 and creating 23.
