Hertha Berlin’s Davie Selke is on the verge of joining FC Köln

Davie Selke is on the verge of moving to FC Köln from Hertha Berlin, according to Kicker

The striker has been with Hertha since 2017 and made over 75 appearances for the club. Having fallen out of favour with the club, the former German youth international had been on loan with Werder Bremen for a year and a half until 2021.

This season, the 27-year-old has played 13 Bundesliga matches, ten of which have been from the bench. During these games, Selke has scored one goal from the penalty spot in a memorable 3-2 victory over Bayern Munich.

Currently, Selke’s contract with Hertha Berlin runs until the summer of 2023. However, as per the report, the forward is on the verge of swapping clubs this winter and is on his way to FC Köln.

Despite a positive start to the season, Köln has been in a poor run of form leading up to the early winter break. Now in 13th position, Steffen Baumgart’s side is just three points ahead of 16th and just two places in front of Hertha.

Could Selke turn around Köln’s fortunes and further deepen the situation at Hertha? Only time will tell.
