Freiburg head coach Christian Streich signs contract extension

Bundesliga side Freiburg have announced the contract extension of head coach Christian Streich.

The length of the contract hasn’t been made public but the 56-year-old coach remains the longest serving in the Bundesliga, appointed as Freiburg head coach in December 2011.

Streich has since gone on to coach 383 games and his current Freiburg side currently find themselves in an excellent spot and have a chance of qualifying for European football.

“The coaching team brings in tremendous energy every day,” said board member Jochen Saier. “We are delighted to report on the successful collaboration with Christian Streich, Patrick Baier, Lars Voßler, Florian Bruns, Daniel Wolf and Michael Müller, who have all worked at Freiburg for many years.

“Over the past few years we have built a stable foundation together, based on trust in one another and meticulous work. We are convinced that we will continue to work successfully on the development of our team.”
