Freiburg captain Christian Günter believes that the Bundesliga side can qualify for a European competition after their draw against RB Leipzig places them in sixth and just two points off Champions League football.
“Anything is possible this year,” said Günter after Freiburg’s 1-1 draw with RB Leipzig. “So far we’ve been playing very good football week after week, and we want to continue that. We’ll see whether it’s enough for an international competition but if we continue to work like this, we definitely have a chance. The aim must be to fight to the end.”
Freiburg remained the only unbeaten team in the Bundesliga until Bayern Munich defeated them in November. They took part in the 2017/18 Europa League season but failed to advance past the qualifying round after losing to Domzale.
