Brentford continue to pursue SC Freiburg’s Kevin Schade

According to Kicker, Premier League side Brentford won’t give up on signing SC Freiburg’s Kevin Schade. Last summer, Brentford submitted two offers for the 21-year-old with the second reaching almost €20m including bonuses.

The German youth international has four years remaining on his current Freiburg contract and sporting director Klemens Hartenbach believes Schade will remain at the Bundesliga side in order to aid his development.

Speaking about transfer rumours last summer, Hartenbach said: “Regardless of the contractual situation, we continue to see a harmonious balance between what Kevin can give us and what we can give him.”

Schade made his Bundesliga debut for Freiburg last season, scoring four and creating one in 824 minutes across 21 Bundesliga games. This season, Schade has continued to impress and has featured in the Bundesliga and Europa league, scoring goals in both competitions.

Although Freiburg are unwilling to sell, the financial pull of the Premier League and the transfer budget of its teams may force them to part ways with Schade sooner than they would like.
