Bayern Munich to offer Hasan Salihamidžić contract extension beyond 2023

As reported by Kicker, Bayern Munich are to present Hasan Salihamidžić with a new three-year contract.

The new deal is to be approved at a supervisory board meeting at the end of the month. Salihamidžić (45) was appointed as sporting director in 2017 and was promoted to the Bayern Munich board in 2020.

Salihamidžić received criticism in his early years but has impressed on the transfer market this summer. Sadio Mané and Matthijs de Ligt are two high profile players that have joined the club, whilst they also secured the signing of talented Ryan Gravenberch and Mathys Tel. Not only that, Salihamidžić has managed to collect large sums for players such as Marc Roca, Omar Richards, Tanguy Nianzou and Robert Lewandowski.

Speaking to Maximilian Koch of Abendzeitung, Bayern President Herbert Hainer said: “It certainly hasn’t always been easy for him in recent years, but he wasn’t thrown off track and has continued to develop. We all know that he has a Bayern heart and always gives everything for the club.”

Hainer added: “Like everything at Bayern, it’s a team effort. We’re incredibly well coordinated here. Oliver, as CEO, pushes many things at Bayern, Hasan has put a lot of effort into implementing the transfers and I have brought in my experiences from my long professional life.”
