Bayern Munich have met with Juventus officials over Matthijs de Ligt signing

Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić met his Juventus counterpart Federico Cherubini in Milan on Wednesday to discuss signing Matthijs de Ligt, according to Christian Falk of Bild.

Per the report, the secret meeting lasted for around three hours. Juventus now realise that De Ligt is convinced of a move to Bayern Munich and would prefer to join the Bundesliga side over Chelsea, who have also shown concrete interest in signing the Dutchman.

Representatives of De Ligt have since halted negotiations with other clubs for the time being, due to the 22-year-old’s interest in joining Bayern, who showed initial interest in 2019 before the central-defender joined Juventus from Ajax.

As reported earlier by Kerry Hau, Bayern are yet to make an offer for De Ligt but that negotiations would commence in the coming days, which already seems to be the case. The Dutchman would like to leave Juventus and has a reported release clause of €120m, but it’s unlikely that a team would trigger this – a fee of around €80m would be much more reasonable as De Ligt has two-years remaining on his current deal.
