Bayern Munich confirm agreement with Barcelona for Robert Lewandowski’s departure

Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer has confirmed that the club have reached an agreement with Barcelona for the sale of Robert Lewandowski.

“We have come to a verbal agreement with Barcelona,” said Hainer. “It’s good to have clarity for all parties. Robert is an incredible player and he won everything with us. We are incredibly grateful to him.”

Gianluca Di Marzio reported the total agreement between all parties on Friday night. Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg added that Barcelona would pay a fee of €45m plus €5m in bonuses for Lewandowski.

As he entered the final 12 months of his contract, it’s been known for some time that Lewandowski wanted to leave Bayern Munich this summer for Barcelona.

The 33-year-old scored 344 goals and created 72 across 375 games in all competitions for Bayern Munich following his arrival on a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund in 2014.

Lewandowski was seen at Bayern’s Säbener Straße HQ completing his final training session before individually hugging his teammates. The Pole is expected to travel to the US with Barcelona on Sunday.
