Bayer Leverkusen no longer want to sell Nadiem Amiri

According to Kicker, Bayer Leverkusen are no longer looking to loan or sell midfielder Nadiem Amiri who had previously been seeking a move away from the club for more game time.

In the winter of the 2021/22 season, Amiri went on loan to Italian side Genoa with an obligation to buy clause. However, due to the event of relegation, the Italian team were no longer obligated to buy the player and Amiri had to return to B04 with little chance of getting game time under then head coach Gerardo Seoane.

However, since the introduction of Xabi Alonso as the new head coach, Amiri’s fortunes have changed drastically. In Alonso’s ten games, the midfielder has started four and has been highly praised by his new boss in the process. The praise does not stop there, however. The club’s sporting director Simon Rolfes described Amiri’s status in the squad by saying: “The way he presented himself with commitment and drive in training and also in the game, he is an important part of the team.”
