AS Monaco loanee Alexander Nübel does not see any future at Bayern Munich whilst Manuel Neuer is still there

Goalkeeper Alexander Nübel is on loan at AS Monaco from Bayern Munich until the end of the 2022/23 season but he does not see any future in Bavaria while Manuel Neuer is still at the club, according to Kicker.

Now 25-years-old, Nübel explained: “I’ll stay at Monaco for another year and a half. As of now, I’ll be back in 2023.

However, with Bayern looking to extend the contract of 36-year-old Neuer by another year until 2024, Nübel is unsure whether it would make much sense for him to return until Neuer’s departure.

If Manuel is still there, I don’t think it’s going to happen anymore. I think if Manu is still there it doesn’t make sense for me to come back,” the Goalkeeper explained.

Before making his way to the south of France, Nübel spent a year as Bayern’s number two and only featured four times.

This is in complete contrast to his career at Monaco where he is the club’s number one and has already made 35 appearances in Ligue 1 this season.
