Thomas Müller tests positive for Covid-19 & will miss the Club World Cup final

Bundesliga side Bayern Munich have confirmed that 31-year-old forward Thomas Müller has tested positive for Covid-19 ahead of their Club World Cup final against Tigres.

“Thomas Müller, 31, has tested positive for coronavirus at the FIFA Club World Cup in Doha and was promptly isolated. Following his return to Munich, he will immediately go into quarantine. FC Bayern has agreed this with the relevant authorities.”

Bayern Munich also confirm that the whole Bayern Munich team was tested again and that there were no further positive cases.

According to Bild, Bayern Munich’s entourage underwent testing on Monday which yielded no positive cases and were tested again on Wednesday and Müller’s result returned positive. He then took a second test that returned negative before a third test being positive.

Müller has since isolated from the rest of the team and is staying in another hotel although per the report, it’s not clear as to how the German could have been infected.
