Bundesliga side FC Köln have announced the appointment of Paderborn head coach Steffen Baumgart on a two-year contract until 2023 that will be valid for both the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga.
“After over four years in Paderborn, it was time for a change for me. The talks with the board at FC were trusting and open. I am looking forward to my new challenge in Köln next season,” said Baumgart. “It’s one that I will give my full energy to, together with the entire club, the team and all the fans.”
Baumgart was appointed Paderborn head coach in 2017 and helped guide them to consecutive promotions, coaching them during the 2019/20 Bundesliga season.
FC Köln sit 17th with two games remaining, two points from safety.
