New Covid-19 regulations in NRW allows stadiums to return to almost full capacity

A change to local Covid-19 regulations in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia means that clubs in that area can sell 100% of their seated tickets and 50% of standing.

The new change comes into effect on October 1 and given the short notice, Borussia Dortmund have released a further 11,000 tickets in addition to the 25,000 already sold.

“Of course, we can’t resume full capacity utilisation at such short notice and we know that the way back to 81,365 fans requires some patience for various reasons,” said Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke. “The new Corona Protection Ordinance stipulates that in future we will be able to sell all 52,692 seats and half of the 28,673 standing places. That makes a little more than 67,000 places in total.”

Clubs in the state include Borussia Dortmund, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Bayer Leverkusen, FC Köln, Bochum, Bielefeld, Schalke and Paderborn.
