Hertha Berlin sporting director Arne Friedrich has denied an agreement with Ajax for the transfer of 21-year-old Dutch midfielder Jurgen Ekkelenkamp.
“We are in good talks but as of now, there is still no agreement,” said Friedrich at Thursday’s press conference.
Dutch reports had previously suggested that an agreement with Ajax had been reached for Ekkelenkamp, who has 12 months remaining on his current deal.
Ekkelenkamp still remains a priority for Hertha as they look to get the deal over the line before Tuesday’s deadline.
