Speaking to regional outlet Rheinische Post, 24-year-old midfielder Denis Zakaria has confirmed that he’s held initial talks with Borussia Mönchengladbach about an extension of his contract.
“We have already talked to Max Eberl,” said Zakaria. “The situation with my former advisor was a bit complicated. I didn’t say I definitely wanted to go. I have always said that I feel good in Gladbach. We’ll have more talks, I can’t say more about it yet.”
The Switzerland international has less than 12 months remaining on his current deal and had attracted interest from Manchester United and AS Roma throughout the summer.
Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl also confirmed back in August that they had received enquiries for Zakaria, but is confident of a contract extension.
