Bild report tonight that Celtic have received an offer from Premier League newcomers Brentford for defender Kristoffer Ajer, sneaking in at the 11th hour after the 23-year-old had agreed a deal in principle with Bayer Leverkusen.
The figure is believed to be above Celtic’s valuation of €15m, a fee that Bayer Leverkusen don’t believe is feasible with just one-year remaining on his current deal.
Per the report, Ajer had agreed a contract of at least four years with Bayer Leverkusen and had even spoken to new B04 head coach Gerardo Seoane but it’s now unlikely that they will increase their offer.
A central defender remains top priority for Bayer Leverkusen following an injury to Edmond Tapsoba, who is expected to be sidelined until October.
