Willy Sagnol advises Bayern Munich to sign Kai Havertz over Leroy Sané

Former Bayern Munich assistant coach and defender Willy Sagnol has advised the Bundesliga club against signing Manchester City attacker Leroy Sané.

“He doesn’t correspond at all to Bayern in terms of his character,” Sagnol told RMC. “He’s someone whose form is very inconsistent and who is very withdrawn. For me, he doesn’t suit the club at all. He’s had a lot of problems at Manchester City and with the national team.”

Instead, Sagnol believes that Bayern Munich should use that money and to put it towards a move for 20-year-old Kai Havertz of Bayer Leverkusen.

“We are talking about €80 million [for Sané]. In that case, I would prefer to put another €20m down and sign Kai Havertz,” added Sagnol.

Bayern Munich bosses believe they can land Sané for much less than €80m given the Germany international has just one year remaining on his Manchester City contract whilst Bayer Leverkusen are in no rush to sell Havertz and won’t allow his departure for anything less than €100m.
