Berliner Zeitung report that Union Berlin are close to signing former Wolfsburg central defender Robin Knoche on a free transfer.
The 28-year-old played 1,592 minutes of Bundesliga football last season for Wolfsburg, but is deemed surplus to requirements after head coach Oliver Glasner and Wolfsburg bosses chose not to extend the contract of Knoche.
