Thomas Müller on Kai Havertz: “At Bayern, we want to have the best players with the best abilities.”

Bayern Munich attacker Thomas Müller has praised compatriot Kai Havertz but can’t say whether a move for the Bayer Leverkusen midfielder is possible this summer.

“In my last appearances for the national team, I enjoyed training and playing with him,” said Müller. “He’s an extremely good player, if not Europe’s top talent in his age. He has very good abilities. At Bayern, we want to have the best players with the best abilities.

“Unfortunately, I have no insight into the financial area and the sports director area. I don’t know what is planned and which budget can be allocated to transfers in the current situation.”

At the minute, it appears Chelsea are in pole position to sign Havertz with Bayern Munich prioritising Leroy Sané and Liverpool not willing to part with significant money in the summer. It’s also possible that Havertz will remain at Bayer Leverkusen, who will not sell their prized asset for less than €100 million.
