Stefan Ilsanker: “The DFB & DFL have done everything they can to start playing again.”

Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Stefan Ilsanker discussed the potential of Bundesliga football returning but that it’s now in the hands of the government.

“We meet all of our requirements and rules 100 percent,” said Ilsanker. “The DFB and DFL have done everything they can to start playing again. The ball is now with the government.”

Eintracht Frankfurt players were one of the first clubs to forego their salaries to ease the financial burden on clubs amid the ongoing health crisis.

“We want to help, forego salary, set up our own aid projects and lead as role models,” added the Austrian. “I think that on the whole it has been very well received. When it comes to football, there will always be people who say we earn too much.”

The DFL have put forward a plan to resume the Bundesliga season and on Thursday, the government will hold a meeting to discuss an outcome.
