Schalke 04 have contacted representatives of AS Roma defender Rick Karsdorp as they search for a new right-back, according to sources contacted by Get German Football News.
The 25-year-old defender spent the season on loan at Eredivisie club Feyenoord and whilst the Dutch side wanted to extend the loan deal, they haven’t the financial resources to do so.
Southampton had shown interest in signing Karsdorp but with the permanent signing of Kyle Walker-Peters, a move to the Premier League club seems unlikely.
Napoli and Atalanta have shown interest in the Dutchman previously whilst Karsdorp would prefer to play for a club in a European competition, something Schalke can’t currently offer.
