Schalke 04 remain confident that Frenchman Benjamin Stambouli will sign a new contract with the Bundesliga club with his current deal having expired.
Sporting director Jochen Schneider confirmed both parties are in talks: “We are talking to each other and would like to keep him here.”
Stambouli joined Schalke from Paris Saint-Germain for €8 million in 2016 and has gone on to play 106 games in all competitions for the Royal Blues.
