RB Leipzig sporting director Markus Krösche has confirmed that AS Monaco defender Benjamin Henrichs won’t be joining the Bundesliga club in January after being told the German is not for sale.
“Monaco have informed us that ‘Benni’ will stay and that they don’t want to sell him. We have to accept that. We already have a number of flexible players in defence who can also play both full-back positions, so we don’t feel under a lot of pressure in that sense,” Krösche told Sky.
Talks had been ongoing for the 22-year-old with multiple reports suggesting an agreement for a €25m transfer had been reached. However, a change of manager at Monaco has resulted in the German’s stay.
