Peter Gulácsi advises against selling Timo Werner: “A club not only needs leaders, but also identification figures.”

RB Leipzig goalkeeper Péter Gulácsi has warned the club against selling players who have been at the club for a lengthy time.

“I think it’s important that there are players who have a relationship with the club and a relationship with the fans,” Gulácsi told Sport Bild.

“I am one of the players who know where the club comes from, what we have experienced together and what it means for the city. A club not only needs leaders, but also identification figures.”

These quotes come after reported interest in Timo Werner, Emil Forsberg and Yussuf Poulsen and the departure of Diego Demme to Napoli in the summer.

Gulácsi joined RB Leipzig from RB Salzburg in 2015 and has been a mainstay between the posts ever since.
