Matthias Ginter on Borussia Mönchengladbach’s title chances: “The result is a small setback for us.”

Speaking after Borussia Mönchengladbach’s 1-1 draw against Hoffenheim, Matthias Ginter discussed VAR and what the result means to their Bundesliga title chasing campaign.

“I’m generally a big fan of video evidence because it makes the decisions fairer. In that situation though, it was more ball to hand and Oscar [Wendt] couldn’t really get out of the way. Of course, the fact that the goal didn’t count was very annoying, just like the fact that we didn’t convert the penalty later,” said Ginter.

“The result is a small setback for us. We really wanted to the three points and to extend of good run at home,” added the 26-year-old.

“Since all our rivals have all won so far, it is of course particularly annoying that we missed out on the two points. Nevertheless, we can’t now look at everything negatively. There are still a few games left and it’s still all to play for. We have to keep analysing our game, stay tuned, work hard and hopefully get back to winning ways against Augsburg next week.”
