Kai Havertz fails to attend performance tests, transfer to Chelsea moves closer – the latest

As reported by Christian Falk of Bild, Kai Havertz failed to turn up to Bayer Leverkusen’s mandatory performance checks on Sunday afternoon ahead of a return to team training on Monday.

And so, it would appear that the drawn out saga of Havertz joining Chelsea is nearing its end. As Kicker suggest, silence from Havertz’ representatives and the Germany international failing to attend fitness tests is perhaps the biggest indication yet that his move to the Premier League club is imminent.

Havertz completed two tests for coronavirus in Leverkusen on Friday and Saturday, which returned negative, allowing the 21-year-old to join up with his international teammates on Monday.

Several reports suggest that both clubs have reached an agreement over a €100 million transfer, including bonuses, which would also see Havertz sign a five-year contract with Chelsea.

More as it comes, but it appears that Havertz to Chelsea is likely to reach a conclusion shortly.
