Julian Nagelsmann on RB Leipzig’s transfer plans: “We can’t throw money around.”

Speaking ahead of RB Leipzig’s Bundesliga game against Fortuna Düsseldorf on Wednesday, head coach Julian Nagelsmann confirmed that they’re interested in signing Patrik Schick permanently but confirmed that they can’t afford the €29 million fee.

“Patrik is an absolute dream player of mine,” said Nagelsmann. “But everything has to be reasonable, we are struggling with the effects of the coronavirus pandemic and can’t throw money around. We simply can’t pay the amount we are talking about, so we are still in negotiations.”

RB Leipzig have an option to purchase the Czech Republic international for €29m, having spent the season on loan from Serie A club AS Roma.

Schick has scored ten and created two in 20 Bundesliga games under Nagelsmann.
