Jadon Sancho: “It’s been a hard situation for me but it’s about how I come back.”

Speaking after Borussia Dortmund’s 3-0 win against Club Brugge in the Champions League, Jadon Sancho commented on his difficult start to the 2020-21 season and his free-kick vs the Belgians.

“It was a fantastic goal,” said Sancho. “I have practised many free-kicks in extra sessions lately and I’m very happy that it came off against Club Brugge. I have coaches and teammates that believe in me. Recently it’s been a hard situation for me but it’s about how I come back and hopefully get back to the top playing like I was before.”

The England international also had praise for Golden Boy winner Erling Braut Haaland, who scored two goals vs Club Brugge.

“Erling Haaland is a fantastic player,” added Sancho. “I’m just happy I can get easy assists with him. He recently won the Golden Boy award and I’m very happy for him because he deserves it. He works hard on and off the pitch.”

The 20-year-old also believes that Borussia Dortmund can compete with Bayern Munich for the Bundesliga title this season if they remain consistent.

“I hope that we can win a title,” said Sancho. “I want to think from game to game and not look too far into the future but it we have performances like this week in and week out, I’m sure we can compete for the league title.”
