Mattéo Guendouzi to undergo Hertha BSC medical

Mattéo Guendouzi will join Hertha Berlin from Arsenal, subject to a medical, on a season-long loan without an option to buy.

Initially reported by English media and confirmed by Foot Mercato, Kicker have now reported that the Frenchman will join the Bundesliga club.

As reported via our colleagues at Get French Football News, the 21-year-old rejected a move to Hertha but after being made aware the playing time at Arsenal would be limited this season, Guendouzi seeks a new challenge.

Following the departures of Per Skjelbred, Marko Grujic and Ondrej Duda, Hertha Berlin have been looking for reinforcements and a new central-midfielder was at the top of their priority list.

Hertha will not pay a loan fee.

UPDATE: Max Bielefeld of Sky Germany reports that Guendouzi will undergo his medical check at 9am.
