DFL to suspend Bundesliga games from March 17 until April 2

The DFL executive committee has proposed the suspension of Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga fixtures from March 17 until April 2.

This means that this weekend’s games will go ahead behind closed doors, whilst the German FA, clubs and fan groups have asked people not to gather outside the stadium, as we’ve seen in the Champions League.

This comes after UEFA suspended all Champions League and Europa League fixtures, whilst the Premier League have also suspended.

“The goal is still to finish the season by the summer – from a sporting point of view, but especially because an early end to the season could have consequences that could threaten the existence of some clubs,” said a DFL statement.
