Borussia Mönchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl has confirmed that 23-year-old midfielder Denis Zakaria will remain at the Bundesliga club this summer despite interest from overseas.
“Denis will play with us in the new season and drive his development forward. The level of the Champions League will also be a challenge for him,” Eberl told Radio 90.1.
Eberl also commented on the financial impact that the coronavirus has had on the club, stating that they would like to strengthen their squad with two players but that they won’t be able to spend more than €10 million on a player.
If Borussia Mönchengladbach hadn’t qualified for the Champions League, then the situation may have been different for both the Bundesliga club and Zakaria.
