Bayern Munich fine Jérôme Boateng for breaking quarantine rules

Bayern Munich have fined defender Jérôme Boateng after the 31-year-old broke quarantine rules amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Boateng left Munich without the approval of the club.

“I accept every fine in the world if it is justified. I know that it was a mistake not to let the club know about my trip but at that moment, I was just thinking of my son,” said Boateng.

“When a son calls his father, then of course I’ll still go, no matter what time. I accept every fine for him. I want to see the father which doesn’t leave in such a moment to be with his four-year old son. I think it’s sad.”

Bayern Munich will donate the sum to Munich hospitals.
