FC Köln striker Anthony Modeste has admitted that he’s frustrated with life on the bench following his return to the Bundesliga club but remains ready to fight for a starting place.
“I am grateful that I am here again. When I am sitting on the bench, I am frustrated. This is normal, it is the same for every player. A bench seat is no acceptable to me either, but I accept the decision of the coach. For me, that means fighting and taking back the place. I don’t let anyone feel my disappointment, I always support my colleagues,” the 31-year-old told Bild.
The Frenchman joined Tianjin Tianhai in 2017 after scoring 25 goals in 34 Bundesliga games, helping Köln to their highest Bundesliga finish in 25 years.
Since returning to the club in 2018, Modeste has scored just seven goals, and only one in 13 Bundesliga games this season.
