Official | Max Kruse will leave Werder Bremen at the end of the season

Werder Bremen have announced that 31-year-old forward Max Kruse will depart the Bundesliga club at the end of the season when his contract expires.

The Germany international came through the youth ranks at Bremen before a transfer to St. Pauli while impressive spells at Borussia Mönchengladbach and Wolfsburg followed before a return to the Weserstadion in 2016.

“We always stressed that that we wanted to continue working together with Max. However, he has come to the decision to search for a new challenge after three years at Werder. We respect this wish. It was important for us to have some security in our planning for next season. This is now ensured and we are certain that we will have a strong squad for the 2019/20 season,” said sporting director Frank Baumann.

It’s unclear as to whom Kruse will join but Borussia Mönchengladbach had shown an interest in January.
