Borussia Mönchengladbach confirmed on Tuesday afternoon that Dieter Hecking won’t be their head coach going into the 2019/20 Bundesliga campaign.
Sporting director Max Eberl said: “Deciding to part ways with Dieter Hecking in the summer is one of the most difficult calls I’ve had to make as a sporting director. It’s a strategic decision and isn’t down to recent events.
“I informed Dieter of my decision in a personal and emotion meeting yesterday. Dieter is a wonderful person. We will do everything we can to achieve something great together this season.”
Hecking added: “I’m obviously very disappointed. But when a sporting director like Max Eberl believes it’s better for the club to move ahead with a different coach, then that’s how it is. He has every right to do that and of course I accept it.”
