Martin Schmidt has resigned as head coach of VfL Wolfsburg.
The Bundesliga club accepted the resignation on Monday following “an intensive and contentious discussion.”
Schmidt succeeded Andries Jonker but with just three wins in 19 games, Wolfsburg find themselves just one point above 1. FSV Mainz 05 in the relegation playoff.
