Bayer Leverkusen have signed Brazilian striker Paulo Henrique Sampaio Filho, known as Paulinho, from Vasco de Gama, the club confirmed on Friday.
The 17-year-old will join Leverkusen on 15 July after the two clubs agree a fee, believed to be around €20 million. Paulinho has signed a contract until 2023.
“The lad has quickly shown us what he can do with his technical ability, his dynamism, assertiveness and his goal threat. He is very advanced in spite of his young age. We are convinced we can integrate him quickly and we’re looking forward to seeing another great player in a Bayer 04 shirt,” said business manager Jonas Boldt.
Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester City were reportedly interested in the youngster.
