Wolfsburg are unwilling to meet Lyon’s €20 million asking price for 21-year-old Ivorian winger Maxwel Cornet despite the player willing to move to the Bundesliga club, according to Kicker.
Cornet remains Wolfsburg’s priority target but it appears the Bundesliga club are only prepared to spend a maximum of €15m, including bonuses.
Sporting director Jörg Schmadtke has a significantly less transfer budget in comparision to his predecessors and with €30m already spent this summer, Wolfsburg don’t want to fork out a substantial fee.
If Wolfsburg fail in a move for Cornet, then the Bundesliga club will turn their attentions towards Red Star Belgrade winger Nemanja Radonjic, who is expected to join Marseille.
