Borussia Dortmund remain interested in FC Basel defender Manuel Akanji, according to reports in Switzerland.
The 22-year-old remains a wanted man with Liverpool also said to be interested however, the arrival of Virgil van Dijk at Anfield puts the Bundesliga club in the driving seat.
Blick suggest that Dortmund are ready to pay the Swiss champions €15 million for Akanji, with Basel not budging from their €20m asking price.
This move remains in the balance, given Borussia Dortmund may look to sell a defender before advancing negotiations with Basel.
