Bayern Munich to name Niko Kovač as head coach

Niko Kovač will be announced as the new Bayern Munich head coach, as first reported by the reliable Christian Falk of Sport Bild.

The Bundesliga champions will pay Eintracht Frankfurt a compensation fee of €2.2 million, per Kicker, as their search for Jupp Heynckes’ successor comes to an end.

Kovač already has a working relationship with Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić after a playing spell with Bayern between 2001 and 2003.

Thomas Tuchel was thought to be a favourite but the now PSG bound manager ruled himself out of the job. Other names included Lucien Favre and Julian Nagelsmann.
