Schalke reportedly part company with Marcus Weinzierl

According to BILD, Schalke have informed Marcus Weinzierl that he will be relieved of his duties after deciding against continuing with the former FC Augsburg coach following an end of season review meeting.

Schalke general manager Christian Heidel had earlier criticized Weinzierl after the club endured a disappointing season under him finishing 10th in the Bundesliga, hence missing out on a place in Europe for the first time since in seven years.

Heidel wants to replace Weinzierl with 31-year-old Domenico Tedesco who is currently the manager of 2. Bundesliga side FC Erzgebirge Aue.
