Borussia Dortmund have signed Bayer Leverkusen centre back Ömer Toprak for €12 million but the 27 year old will not join the Black and Yellows until the summer.
Toprak has signed a four year deal with Dortmund after they triggered the €12 million release clause of the former SC Freiburg defender. He will spend the rest of the season as a Leverkusen player before joining his new teammates in July.
Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc expressed his delight after securing the services of one of the best defenders in the Bundesliga.
“Ömer Toprak is a strong defender with international experience and great leadership qualities,” Zorc said in a club statement.
