Official | Heiko Herrlich appointed as Bayer Leverkusen coach

Bayer Leverkusen have confirmed that Heiko Herrlich will be their new head coach for the coming 2017/18 Bundesliga season.

The 45-year-old recently gained promotion for the 3. Liga to the 2. Bundesliga with Jahn Regensburg after beating 1860 Munich in the play-off.

“This was a fantastic opportunity for me to return to the Bundesliga as a coach, and to do it at the place where my professional career started. Bayer have been one of the most successful German clubs over the past 20 years and they have an excellent reputation in Europe,” said Herrlich.

“It’s a great feeling to be here and to carry the responsibility for a team who are extremely talented and ambitious. We want to get the best we possibly can from the coming season and get ourselves back in among the leading pack.”
