Chinese Super League club Beijing Guoan have appointed Roger Schmidt as their new manager.
The 48 year old, who was sacked by Bayer Leverkusen midway through last season, has signed a two and a half year contract with the Chinese club and will be officially unveiled on July 1.
” We are delighted to announce that Roger Schmidt has been appointed as head coach of the first team,” a statement read on Guoan’s official website.
” Schmidt, who is a standout example of the up-and-coming coaches in Germany, has won worldwide plaudits for his high-pressing style with Red Bull Salzburg and Bayer Leverkusen.
” We are convinced that Schmidt will give a new impetus to Beijing Guoan and will lead our team to reach new heights.”
