Max Meyer to decide on his Schalke future by summer

In an interview with WAZ, Schalke 04 midfielder Max Meyer has stated that he hopes to decide on his future at the club by summer.

“This is something I can not say yet, because I hopefully have a long career ahead of me. In football, it is too fast-paced to plan ahead. When I read something [about rumours], I know that there is nothing to it, otherwise I would have heard from my advisor. I am quite relaxed. I have all the time in the world and no pressure, because my contract still has a year-and-a-half on it. Regardless [if Schalke qualify for Europe], I believe that there will probably be a decision about my future by the summer.”

When asked about new contract talks: “No, not yet.”

On wearing the famous No. 7 shirt once worn by Raul.

“It is very special to be able to wear this number. Raul has been an idol here and a legend at Real Madrid. It is an honour to get a piece of it.”
