Ludwig Augustinsson will join Werder Bremen in the summer

Werder Bremen announced on Monday that they have completed the signing of Sweden international Ludwig Augustinsson, who will join in the summer.

Werder Bremen are yet to disclose the contract details of the 22-year-old.

“We’re very happy that Ludwig chose Werder so early despite other teams showing interest in him, and that we were able to convince him not only of our philosophy, but also of our footballing vision at Werder and in the Bundesliga. He showed promise at Göteborg and Copenhagen with very good performances and has become a constant in the national team,” said the sporting director Frank Baumann.

Head coach Alexander Nouri added: “Ludwig is strong defensively and can also play on the left of midfield as well as left-back. He’s a great guy who’ll fit right in to the squad and offer us further options on the pitch.”

Augustinsson was part of the Sweden U21 side that won the European Championship before featuring for the full national team in France last summer at Euro 2016.
