Hamburger SV open talks with Holger Badstuber

Earlier in the week, reports from ESPN FC emerged that Pep Guardiola was interested in bringing Holger Badstuber to Manchester City.

Despite these talks, Sportbild are now reporting that Hamburger SV are set to enter talks with the Bayern Munich defender – which makes sense following the losses of Emir Spahic and Cleber, who have both departed the club.

EDIT (13:05CET). Hamburger Abendblatt has reported that Badstuber’s representative, Prof. Dr. Peter Duvinage, has denied the above reports, saying “there was a request” but that no one “spoke with me or Holger.”

Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeneß and CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has said that there had been “very good talks” but the probability of a winter loan to Hamburg is “very low.”

06/01/16 – Thomas Müller has stated that “For Holger, it is very important to get some playing practise, so that he can show what great quality is in him.”

Carlo Ancelotti is also open to a loan move for the Bayern defender.

Talking to Kicker, Ancelotti said: “If he wants to collect games for six months, we are open to it.”
