Gonzalo Castro signs extension at Dortmund until 2020

Borussia Dortmund have extended the contract of Gonzalo Castro, signing until 2020, the club confirmed on Wednesday morning.

“I’m really happy about the trust the club has placed in me and I can honestly say that it makes me proud to pull on the Black and Yellow jersey and play football in front of such amazing fans,” Castro told the club’s website.

“Both on a sporting and personal level, Gonzo has become a very important member of the squad in a short space of time,” added Sporting Director Michael Zorc.

The 29-year-old signed for BVB in 2015 after a 16 year spell at Bayer Leverkusen.

Castro perhaps doesn’t get the credit he deserves, having played in 30 of Dortmund’s 36 competitive fixtures this season.
