With the contract of Mesut Özil expiring at Arsenal, Schalke chairman Clemens Tönnies has stated that he would love the Germany international to return to his former club.
Speaking to Kicker, Tönnies said: “I could very well imagine a return, especially with Mesut Özil. If it fits all sides, it would be a nice story.”
Competition for the Germany international is reported to be high with both Manchester United and Barcelona favourites to sign Özil, but what’s to say he won’t one day return to Schalke?
