Christian Heidel confirms Schalke’s interest in Holger Badstuber

Schalke 04’s sporting director Christian Heidel has confirmed that the Bundesliga club are in talks with a loan move for Bayern Munich’s central defender, Holger Badstuber.

“We don’t deny that there’s been contact with Holger Badstuber, but further talks must be held. We have to try and put together a deal that satisfies all the parties involved. Holger Badstuber is one of the best centre backs I’ve ever known for opening up the game,” says Heidel.

Both Hamburger SV and Manchester City are two other clubs looking for a potential deal to land the 28-year-old on a six-month loan.

We also know that Carlo Ancelotti wants to extend the contract of Badstuber before he departs on loan.
